DAVIS, Calif. — FC Davis is still on top.

Davis remained unbeaten in the inaugural The League For Clubs-NorCal Conference play Saturday night thanks to a 4-3 victory over Rush Silicon Valley.

FC Davis’ stellar offense was fueled by a second-half brace from midfielder Luis Mendoza.

Mendoza scored the go-ahead goal in the 78th minute, curling a left-footed shot into the far corner after a quick counterattack. He had earlier tied the game at 3-3 in the 65th minute with a penalty kick following a handball in the box.

Rush Silicon Valley struck first in the 12th minute through forward Jason Liu, who finished a low cross from the right. Davis responded with goals from Ryan Bell (23rd minute) and Tomas Ortega (37th minute) to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Rush Silicon Valley pulled level again in the 50th minute on a header by Noah Kim and briefly led 3-2 after a deflected own goal by FC Davis defender Jorge Ramos in the 58th minute where Ramos failed to clear a loose ball.

FC Davis now holds a 29-14 scoring edge this season and sits atop the NorCal Conference standings at 8-0-0.

Rush Silicon Valley falls to 2-5-0 overall and has been outscored 16-13 this season.
