WPSL: Kennedy’s hat trick powers California Storm into West Region championship match

TEMECULA, Calif. – Lauren Kennedy had herself a day on Saturday.

In fact, her entire side with the California Storm had itself quite an outing for a national tournament match.
The California Storm moved to 8-1-0 on the season with a resounding 7-0 shutout victory over the El Paso Surf at Temecula (Calif.) Linfield Christian High School.
 
Kennedy notched the hat trick to pace the California Storm, which advanced to the Women’s Premier Soccer League West Region finals.
One of the more storied programs in the entire WPSL, five different goals scorers found the statsheet for the Storm. The side now has an impressive 28-5 scoring edge with five shutouts in nine games, lowered its goals-against-average down to 0.56 and averages 3.12 goals-per-game.

The team also has an impressive .889 win percentage this season.

Drew Novaes gained the shutout under the framework, while Kennedy Mayo, Elle Quinn, Susie Long and Madison Ayson also scored for the Storm

The California Storm will face the So Cal Union at 7 p.m. ET, also at the Temecula (Calif.) Linfield Christian High School.
