RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State men’s soccer standout Donavan Phillip has announced he will not use his final year of collegiate eligibility and will instead pursue a professional soccer career, closing an impactful chapter with the Wolfpack.

Phillip shared the news in a message addressed to Wolfpack Nation, expressing gratitude to the fans, coaching staff, and university community that supported him throughout his time in Raleigh.

“Wearing the NC State jersey has been an absolute honor,” Phillip said. “I am forever grateful for this program, university, and the people who made it feel like home.”

During his time with NC State, Phillip emerged as a key figure on and off the field, known for his work rate, physical presence, and leadership. Whether tracking back defensively or pushing the tempo in attack, he consistently set the tone for the Wolfpack and became a player his teammates relied on in crucial moments.

Phillip also credited the coaching staff and support personnel for shaping his development beyond the pitch.

“To the coaches, support staff, and administration behind the scenes, thank you for the guidance and care that helped shape me both as a player and a person,” he said.

His decision comes after what he described as “much thought and prayer,” signaling readiness to take the next step in his soccer journey. While his collegiate career concludes earlier than expected, Phillip made it clear that his connection to NC State remains strong.

“NC State will always be home, and I’ll forever be proud to be part of the Wolfpack,” Phillip added.

As he prepares for the professional ranks, Phillip leaves behind a legacy defined by commitment, resilience, and pride in the crest he wore. His next chapter begins with the foundation built in Raleigh—one that will continue to represent Wolfpack soccer wherever the game takes him.

Go Pack.
